Frequently Asked Questions

How long will it take to get my Room e-Design or Mood Board?

You will receive your e-Design Package within 14-21 days from Bolster’s receipt of all necessary information (questionnaire, room measurements, photos) and payment. If edits are requested, they will be done within one week. Multiple rooms purchased together require 14-21 days per room. Mood Boards are typically delivered within 10-14 days, if not sooner.

How can Bolster design my space without seeing it or meeting me personally?

Before you invest in any of Bolster’s design services, we will do an exploratory consultation to make sure it is a good fit. From there, you’d complete the client questionnaire and provide room measurements and photos. Including inspiration photos you’ve found online is helpful as well.  The more information you send the better I get to know you and your style preferences. All of this helps to accurately understand your budget, space, needs and the look you want to achieve. There is direct communication with the designer throughout the process as well.

How will I access the e-Designs?

All designs are delivered to your personalized and secure design portal. Initially, you’ll receive an email granting you access to the design portal, where you will create a unique password. From then on, you’ll be able to access the portal for everything related to your project, and to communicate with the designer.

Can some of my existing furniture pieces be incorporated into the design plan?

Absolutely! I pride myself on providing personalized and affordable interior makeovers. If you love certain pieces in the room, every effort is made to keep them in the new design.

If I have an open floor plan with two spaces, which room do I select first?

In this case, I strongly suggest you purchase a design plan for both spaces.  Rooms that open into one another tend to feel like a single space, and it’s not possible to truly transform the look without taking into consideration everything the eye sees in a single view.

What items does a typical e-Design include?

This depends on what we’re trying to accomplish with your space, but your plan may include items such as a new rug, furniture pieces, occasional tables, lighting, and decor.

Will I be able to purchase the items directly?

Yes! This is one of the great advantages of e-Design. You’ll be provided a full shopping list of the recommended items with convenient, clickable links. Prices are retail - no hidden markups or fees!

Will you make changes to my plan if I don’t like something you’ve selected?

I provide one round of edits per design plan. Additional edits are billed at the hourly consulting rate. The thorough phone consultation and specific information you provide is key to few or no edits.

Once I have my plan, how am I able to ask follow-up questions?

Two weeks of communication with the designer are included after delivery of your final e-Design to your design portal. Consultation beyond the two weeks is billed at the hourly consulting rate.

What happens if I wait to purchase an item and then it’s no longer available?

If an item is unavailable within 5 days of delivery of your e-Design, a substitute item can be suggested or you can shop for a similar item. I recommend that before purchasing a design service, you wait until you are financially and practically ready to implement a design change. The world of manufactured goods is very fluid and inventory is in and out of stock quickly. There are no guarantees a recommended item will be available later.

Can I purchase e-Design services as a gift?

Definitely!  Bolster’s e-Design gift certificates make fabulous housewarming, newlywed, birthday, Mother’s Day gifts, and more. Click the contact button to inquire.

Where do you offer e-Design?

Bolster’s online services are offered throughout the United States. Onsite consultation and design is available for clients in the Northern Virginia / Washington D.C area.
